New Hunger Games promo poster!

Foregoing all the imagery and hidden symbols (discovered and broken down by Wired) in the new “Mockingjay, Part 2” poster, let’s just take a few moments to appreciate how amazing/beautiful/awesome it is…

Say it with me now… DOWN WITH THE CAPITOL! *wild battle cry*

NEW Catching Fire promo movie posters

BAM! New photos have been released for Catching Fire! Not set photos this time, though. Somehow these are even more awesome.

Promo posters featuring the prominent characters in Catching Fire have been released, and OMG they are GORGEOUS.

I stumbled upon a few of these photos several days ago (Woody Harrelson and Stanley Tucci, to be precise) and thought, “oh, hey. These are pretty cool.” And then I stumbled upon Jennifer Lawrence. And Elizabeth Banks. AND LENNY KRAVITZ. So clearly, these needed to be shared with the rest of the world (or, at least AtLP’s followers) :)

Katniss Everdeen: The Newest Edition to Barbie’s Family

No lie.

Barbie has had a make-under, as revealed in the first photos of the Katniss doll, inspired by the heroine of the Hunger Games.

Mattel has launched its special collection doll, based on 16-year-old Katniss.

The make-up free figurine is decked out in her signature boots and black-and-orange jacket, with a trademark mockingjay pin, braid and bow and arrow.

It is a far cry from the traditional pink-loving Barbie doll, of the the Malibu Dream House and stiletto heels variety.

Since its 2008 release, the Hunger Games book trilogy by author Suzanne Collins has sold more than 11 million copies, and has been published in 47 foreign-language editions.

The movie has stayed atop the box office for three consecutive weeks after its $155 million opening last month, and has now passed the $300 million mark in total revenue.

The doll’s precise resemblance to Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence in the film, is another example of fans’ loyalty to the franchise.

Hunger Games ticket sales smash box office records

Behold the power of young adult literature… The Hunger Games won’t be out for another month yet (27 DAYS!!) but it’s already breaking records.

Advanced ticket sales for the movie accounted for 83% of Fandango’s daily ticket sales on February 22 (as was reported on, and overtook Eclipse‘s (of Twilight fame) record for first day advanced ticket sales. Hundreds of showings have already sold out, I’m guessing probably in the major cities.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I bought my tickets to the midnight IMAX showing! BOO YAH!
