Ally Condie Lands Deal for 2 More Novels!

Matched trilogy author Ally Condie has inked a deal to publish two new novels with Dutton Children’s Books. The Penguin Young Readers Group imprint will release the first book in fall 2014.

Writers House agent Jodi Reamer  negotiated the deal for North American rights with publisher Julie Strauss-Gabel. Strauss-Gabel will  also edit the books. Here’s more about the book, from the release:

[The book] tells the story of Rio, who has waited her whole life for the opportunity to leave her safe, underwater city of Atlantia for life on the surface. But when her twin sister, Bay, shocks everyone and chooses Above first (only one family member may go), Rio is left with increasingly dangerous questions about the complex political and religious system constructed to govern the fragile divide between land and sea.

Theme song for Heist Society 3?

Ally Carter spilled via Twitter that she feels Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” is quickly becoming the theme song for Heist Society 3. I’m telling you right now Ally… if Kat and Hale turn against each other, I will never forgive you. NEVER! Although you also previously said that Hale will be shirtless a lot, so I guess I might be able forgive you just this once.

For those of you unfamiliar with the aforementioned song…

Update: Book and Movie News.

We haven’t had any movie news in awhile, and there are a few things worth noting.

Speaking of the Hunger Games movie (because, really. Who isn’t?), TICKETS GO ON SALE FEBRUARY 22! I can solemnly promise you I’ll have my tickets to the midnight showing (if the theater near me does, in fact, offer one).

If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the trailer. I dare you to not get goosebumps.

Dear God. I have to see this movie… now-ish.

In other movie news, for all you sci-fi fanatics out there, the Ender’s Game movie (2013) has built quite an impressive cast. Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, Harrison Ford, Abigail Breslin, and Brendan Meyer have all signed up to star in the film. I’m not big on sci-fi novels, but I’m betting this is going to be one to watch for with all the star power behind it.

Because we all know I love to rant and speculate about who will be cast as Lucinda Price in the Fallen adaptation, I just thought I’d mention that Hannah Marks is now rumored to be the new Luce. Marks has been in a smattering of TV shows here and there, and it seems Fallen would be her big claim to fame. So now we’ll just have to wait and see who will replace Marks and be the next rumored star will be to play Luce. Maybe I should start a Luce of the Month Club… *rubs chin thoughtfully*

And in general bookishness, Lish McBride is working on the sequel to Hold Me Closer, Necromancer, tentatively titled Necromancing the Stone. Which is an awesome title if ever I heard one.

That’s all for today gang!

Ally Carter drops hints on Heist Society 3

Ally Carter has revealed (via her Twitter feed) that Heist Society 3 will focus a lot on Hale and will involve lots of brooding and shirtlessness.

I think I just died and went to Heaven.

Speaking of Ally Carter, ONLY 65 DAYS UNTIL OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF TIME IS RELEASED!!! Is anyone else re-reading books 1-4? Let me tell you a super spy secret… they’re even better the second time around.
