We’ve been anxiously waiting for the teeniest, slightest kernel of news on a Delirium movie adaptation for what seems like ages.
Unfortunately, it seems there is some sad news for fans who are eagerly awaiting the development of a Delirium movie… It does not appear we will see a movie anytime soon. Fox, who optioned the popular book series for film, has decided a movie may not be the best way to go with the series.
HOWEVER! Oliver informed her fans on her blog that Fox decided instead of adapting Delirium for the big screen, it would be much better suited to becoming a TV SERIES!
Here’s the official word straight from Lauren Oliver’s blog:
The deal is that Fox, which initially optioned the books for film, decided that due to the complexity of all the side plots and characters, the Delirium series might be better suited for TV, as we’d have a chance to explore all of those elements.
There’s certainly a long way to go before we will actually see it become a series, but Fox has ordered a pilot (you can read that announcement here) based on the trilogy. Of course, there’s still lots scripting and casting to go through as well, so it won’t be immediate. But hopefully, now that a pilot has been ordered, we’ll see things start to develop soon.
